St Christopher’s Cathedral is the venue for a concert, one of a series of events celebrating 200 years of friendship between Bahrain and the United Kingdom.
The Bahraini flautist Ahmed Al Ghanem will be accompanied by Nadia Lopchynska on piano and Iryna Ulrikh on cello. The British element of the programme will include two pieces by G.F. Handel –Sonato No 2 and Largo- and the trio will play two pieces composed by Ahmed Al Ghanem: Samaee Ghanem, which was performed as a world premiere in St Christopher’s Cathedral in 2014, and Intedhar (Waiting), performed in November last year in Tromso Cathedral, Norway to great acclaim. Other pieces will be by composers as diverse as Dvorak, Faure, Massente, Gluck, Marhoon and Yamada. It promises to be a feast of music.
Tickets as usual for the Cathedral Concerts are only BD5 and accompanied children are welcome free.
